Banshee
Banshee
is a Pennsylvania rescue, a 'purebred' black lab, who spent
the first six years of his life on a chain. DDB
materials did their work, slowly, as Tami put up signs and doorhangers near
his house repeatedly, and they eventually asked for our help
with him because his caretaker was old and fretted about him.
He loves to fetch and swim more than anything
in the world, and the thought of him languishing on that chain
when he was dying to run, swim, and fetch is too much! But now he has himself
the good life, and is still waiting for a home and a family
to call his own. If you’re interested
in adopting him, please fill out the form on our adopt
page.

Daniel
Daniel
spent years of his life chained and penned in Tennessee, and
he’s got one of the most compelling ‘before’ pics
we’ve seen in a long time. Because
of his life of seclusion, chained where there were many other
chained and penned dogs, he was terribly unsocialized with
humans. However, a very kind
couple in State College, PA took on the challenge of bringing
Daniel out of his shell, and he’s making daily progress.
His dad claims it only took him about 100 shots to get this
nice, ‘still’, photo of him!

Frankie
Frankie
had lived the first 4 years of his life on a chain in Georgia.
He had heartworms, hadn’t had any interaction with people
and his owners decided to take him to the pound to be “put
down.” Ellen, another wonderful volunteer, pulled him
out of there; we changed his name and he was reborn. He was
aloof at first, but gradually began to trust and return affection.
He showed his gratitude by finishing first
in his obedience class! He now lives in a beautiful
home with a dog door and large yard. He jogs with his mom every
morning and takes long strolls with his dad every night.

Job
Job
was a cruelty case, who lived in a tiny pen, suffered severe
neglect, was emaciated, blind in one eye, and was just in such
horrible condition. He had to be in the shelter for months
due to the court case, then Room For One More agreed to take
him, knowing that he would have huge vet bills. They
found this wonderful man who had lost his other special needs
cocker, and he adopted Job! He now has a wonderful new life, and his
dad Ray says he is just happy and spoiled rotten!

Josh
Josh
was tied to a stake by a thick logging chain for the first
4 years of his life in Tennessee until Silver Rescue came along.
His good samaritans couldn't win him his freedom so they made
sure that he had some freedom of movement within his confinement,
and they turned two kennels into a doublewide fence. However,
his depression still continued to deepen. He never barked. Eventually
his caretakers decided to sell him. Love and money
poured in from all over the US and they were able to purchase
his freedom, his vetting and his training and socialization
to turn him into a well mannered pittie ambassador. In
foster care he continued to flourish and before long he was
chosen to be a new brother to another rescued pittie. They
took to each other like long lost friends and today they snuggle
and keep each other warm and safe. No one could have dreamed
up a better life for him.

Marlee
Marlee
is our only girl in the contest this year! Just a coincidence,
believe us since we’re mostly girls at DDB too...seems
to be the year for all the boy rescues, so we’ll just
go with the flow! Marlee was a chained puppy in horrible conditions,
no food or water, chained at the back of the yard in a garbage
dump away from everyone 24/7. And she was deaf. A
volunteer tried to help the family but they couldn’t
care for her and wanted her gone. They’d had
another dog on that same chain weeks before who had been killed
by a fighting dog, so GA Rep Pam Cheatham knew she had to act
fast. In foster care, she blossomed when Michelle, her foster
mom, taught her sign language.
Marlee now lives with Tom and Donna and she is everything
to them. They enrolled her in obedience class where she excelled.
She uses the treadmill every day and she loves it!
