Winter PA Chained Dog Billboard

Dogs Deserve Better has been pushing for a PA Law for chained dogs for since 2004. We were once again thwarted this year, and so chained dogs, like this Blair County dog who DDB has tried to help for years to no avail, will sit through another freezing winter, trying to survive. This board is running January 2010 in Altoona, PA, near the dog's location. Please consider fundraising to get a similar board in your area, and we will gladly use a dog chained local to you. Get us a high-resolution photo of the dog, e-mail it to photos@dogsdeservebetter.org, and raise the money for your board. DDB will chip in $100 per board. You can also donate to the billboard fund at the bottom of the page.

Dogs Deserve Better Billboard Campaign
Most Companies Give Nonprofit Discounts on Billboards:
Raise Money for One Save Some Dogs!

The Dogs Deserve Better billboard campaign brings to light the connection between human and dog with three conceptually unique billboards. The first design illustrates the generational aspect of chaining, illuminating the fact that chaining your dog has been passed down from grandfather to father to son/daughter. Isn't it Time to Break the Chain?

In the second, Rocky Shepheard illustrates a man hugging his dog, and it simply states that Dogs Deserve Better than life on a chain or in a pen with a call to action to bring them into the home and family. This billboard is very colorful, uses a primary color palette, and will draw the eye of any passersby. It is cheerful and focuses on the family life and emotional needs of both dog and man.

The third is for those who embrace the WWJD phenomenon, and asks "Would Jesus Chain His Dogs?"

The fourth, just produced in Texas, is letting small towns know about the new state laws, and offers help to bring their dog into the home and family. This concept can be reworked for any city, county, or state that puts a law into place.

The fifth, which ran in South Carolina, was designed by local area rep Alicia Schwartz and a group there and displayed local contact info. We've revised it for a billboard in Ohio, buy yourself some peace of mind...put this one up in your town. Alicia reports she drives by it daily as a dose of therapy.

DDB can design any concept you'd like to see free of charge if you can pay for a billboard in your local area, so choose one of ours or send us your concepts today!

Dogs Deserve Better will provide this art to any area where citizens are able to raise money and negotiate either an inexpensive billboard space or a free space. Make sure to tell them it's for a nonprofit organization. We will also provide $100 toward the billboard art output. If you are able to raise the funds or negotiate a deal for a board, please e-mail us at info@dogsdeservebetter.org with the company's contact info, and we will get the art to them. If you're a local nonprofit sponsoring the billboard, we will also gladly add your name and contact info at the bottom of the board.

From Patty and Tony Trinka, South Bend, Indiana:
"We've always been against dogs on chains and in pens. A friend sent me an e-mail she'd received from you about billboards. We did our homework and picked 2 great locations. After our 2nd billboard went up, we noticed the living conditions of 2 neighborhood dogs changed for the better. We hope many other dogs were helped, but even if it was only these two, it was worth every cent we spent!"
