Here is my annual membership to help rescue, rehabilitate, house, and feed needy chained
and penned dogs, as well as to educate the public about the chaining issue and push toward
legislative efforts to protect these dogs.
You are supporting an organization which strives to make a difference every single day. Some of the highlights of DDB's accomplishments since mid-2011, when we moved to the Good Newz Rehab Center at the very same property where Vick formerly housed and trained fighting dogs: • Rescued and rehabbed over 60 chained or penned dogs from our 'beginner' 4600 sq. ft. facility, with plans to add a wing to help more dogs this year • Paid in full for the current facility and property, now owning one 4600 sq. ft. building and 16 acres, of which 8 are fenced for our dogs to run in twice a day • Rescued and rehabbed over 100 more dogs through foster homes and our area rep network • Financed rescue and vet care of over 50 more dogs through our NEW Hero Fund Grant which pays for dogs not rescued through DDB to get the vet care they need • Mailed Valentines and information to almost 39,000 formerly chained or penned dogs • Instrumental in and provided materials to dozens of cities and counties hoping to pass anti-chaining legislation • Grassroots activism and legislative efforts through Chain Off, gaining media attention for the issue • Funded fencing for dogs in multiple states
Here are some of the highlights of DDB's accomplishments since our inception in 2002: • Rescued, rehabbed, and rehomed over 3000 chained or penned dogs • assisted in getting laws in scores of counties, cities • spoke at national and local meetings about the dangers to children and dogs of keeping them chained • spent thousands of hours chained to doghouses advocating for better laws • provided fencing for over 150 chained dogs • inspired hundreds of others to take action in their own community for chained dogs through education, rescue, legislation, and fencing campaigns • mailed a total of 91,196 Valentines to chained dogs • funded vet care in a total amount of $389,090.00 • Published five books, a coloring book, and countless posters, brochures, doorhangers, and other products for use in freeing chained dogs

The
goals of Dogs Deserve Better comprise the following six principals:
advocate and become a voice for all dogs living chained outside;
educate society to evolve a higher ethical and moral standard for
the treatment of dogs living under these conditions; meet with owners
of dogs chained outside to advocate on behalf of the dogs and discuss
other options available to them; provide low-cost or no-cost fencing
of yards to improve the quality of life for these dogs; provide
low-cost or no-cost house training for dogs whose owners wish to
bring them into the home; temporarily foster and find new homes
for dogs whose owners wish them to have a better life but are unwilling
or unable to provide that for them.
