Cook
County - Charges have been dropped against a South Georgia woman who's
child was attacked and killed by a dog.
Two-year-old
Morgan Anderson died in July of 2004 when was bitten by a bulldog
mix at a house in Cook County. She apparently went outside without
her mother knowing and approached the dog that was chained in a
neighbor's yard.
As
part of a plea agreement, felony murder, cruelty to children, and
involuntary man slaughter charges were dropped against the child's
mother, Sonya Anderson, and a friend, Rebecca Daniels. They both
pleaded guilty to making a false statement and were sentenced to
12 months probation, and 20 hours of community service that will
be done through parenting classes.
The
women were indicted on that charge because they told an investigator
they heard the back door open and ran out to find the child being
attacked by the dog, when in fact they were in the home asleep during
the attack.
They'll
also have to pay a fine of $498.00.
