In 2010 alone, the organization rescued over 500 formerly chained or penned dogs, spent over $65,000 in vet bills, enacted legislation in cities and counties nationwide and installed fences for chained dogs. The 100 area reps along with the social media and direct mail campaigns educate people in every state in the country about the downsides of chaining and penning.

Tamira Thayne, DDB Founder and CEO, known as the "Godmother of Anti-Tethering" by USA Today spent 52 days on a chain in Harrisburg, PA to win a law for chained dogs. "Chaining is a holdover from days gone by and it's time for those days to be LONG gone," states Thayne. "Studies show that dogs are a necessity to humans not a luxury. Life on a chain deprives the dog of everything essential to his happiness, most importantly the time and attention of his human pack."
